What can you folks tell me about an IH #141 combine? Were they a good machine? What engine was used on this combine? What years was it built? Thanks for any info you might have.

A few specifications and comments on the McCormick 141 Harvester Thresher are as follows. Length of cutter bar 10', 12', or 14'; distance between divider points 10'8", 12'8", or 14'8"; tread 7'5 1/2"; wheel base 10'9", turning radius 8'6"; standard tires 13 x 26 and 6.00 x 16 (numerous tire sizes and tracks were available); gear transmission and variable speed drive; enclosed final drive; rasp bar or spike tooth cylinder; 595-1383 cyl rpm; width of seperator 32"; length of seperator surface 10'2"; 4 section straw walker; 29 7/16" chaffer sieve; 30" x 40" cleaning sieve; 6 cylinder IH engine; 240 cu in; 3 9/16" bore x 4 1/64" stroke; 60 hp @ 2200 rpm; overall length 26'7"; overall height 11'9 1/4"; 50 bu grain tank; weight with standard equipment 8860 lbs. The 141 was good combine but probably not the best on the market at the time. In our area while it was a current model it's main competors were the Case 120, JD 55, and MH 90. After it was introduced in 1955, in the mid and late 1950's, untill it was replaced in the 1960's by the 403, it had a reputation of being better than the Case 120, equal to or maby a little better than the JD 55, and not as good as the MH 90. Lots of people probably have different opinions on this ranking. It was built in several versions including "Rice Field Special" and "Hillside" models and there was a long list of optional equipment on each version. Hope this information helps you.

The 141 was replaced by the 151 then the 151 was replaced by the 403 in the 60's. I'm not sure of year but I think the 141 was built through 1959 or 1960.
