I am looking at a small FWA International tractor c/w front end loader. It is well used with plenty of dents but seems mechanically ok. The dealer tells me it was made in Germany. Does anyone know about this model tractor? Is it basically sound? Are parts available for it? Or should I run away? Even the dealer selling it seemed to be struggling for good things to say about it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Dave, --- 22 / March / 2003 ---

The International "I-844 S" was made at the IH plant in Neuss on the Rhine, Germany from 1975 to 1989, with 20,158 tractors being made. The engine was a "D-268": 4 cylinders / 2300 RPM / 80 H.P. and was made in Germany.

The 844-S was made in Germany, in the late 70īs
and was probably the best one they ever made, but it did have one problem (I think) with corosion of the sleeves, but it helped when it
had a waterfilter. Extraordinary good torque.
Here in denmark we can have all the parts we need
for it.For the time it was one of the best selling
tractors here. It was around 75 pto-hp.
Good luck.
