Just bought a pull type IH sickle bar mower. 7ft. bar, belt drive, NOT pitman. This is NOT a 3 pt mounted or semimount machine. Attaches to the drawbar with a pin, two rubber car sized tires and has a hyd. cylinder to raise and lower the bar. Trying to find out what model it might be. It has NO information on it. Guy I bought it from thought it was a Model 100. I have also heard it might be a 1000 or 1100. How can I tell? Tried to get something out of my local IH dealer today, but they didn't have any pictures and really didn't act too interested in helping me. Just would like to know in case I need parts in the future. Thanks

100 was made 1958-68, was either hitch mounted 2 or 3 point, also 2 wheeled trailing type with the axle attachment, 120 was single tail wheel, 110 was a side mounted for utility tractors for use by usually highway dept, these evolved into 1000 series replacing 120, 100 into 1100 trailing 2 wheel, 1200 2 point hitch, 1300 3 pt, the major change was the drive belt was shielded or enclosed, mechanically everything else pretty much interchanged, last ones made were only the 1100 & 1300 built by New Idea for CNH.

The model 100 had a longer hitch than the 1100. The lift cyl. on the 100 attached to an arm going through the hitch horizontally and then bent upward on the left side. The top of this arm was about the heigth of the pto shaft. A rod and chain were attached to the top of the arm above the cyl. going back to the lift pivot. On the 1100, the lift cyl. attached to a 3/4" thick flat steel bar that laid flat (horizontal) and pivoted on the bolt that attached the hitch. Other parts are all interchangeable.

Could you post a picture? I'm sure someone would recognize it. The 100 was made in 2 point, 3 point and trailer type.

Steve: Your mower is probably model 1100. The book I have lists that as the trailer model of that mower. This same mowing mechanism was also produced as 3 point, 2 point, side mount and of course trailer. At the parts counter mowing mechanism is the same on all, just tell them which version you have and they should be able to sort it out.

There probably were some changes over years. As I recall the first of these mowers used 3 diget model numbers and later 4 diget numbers. Example 110 became the 1100

It is a 100 balanced head mower, made in different version.s , trail type, rear mount and mid mount. A very good mower. I'll try and get to my books, see if I haver any more info.
