I am thinking of getting a wd-6. So I am wondering how popular they are and how easy are parts to get?

I have a S WD 6 and love it. Powerful little tractor. A lot of people shy away from the diesels but I like em. I have a 400D a 600d the SWD 6 and an MD all grat tractors. Most parts are available.

Depends on what part of the country you are in, mid west saw alot of them, ND/SD, texas as well so I have been told. Out here in Western Washington or Western Oregon not so many were bought but eastern wasington an some parts of Montana they were used alot. Again like alot of tractors it depends were you are flat land or hills as well :o) They are nice tractors an have the same engine as the "MD", I think that the style of the W series tractor is one of the best looking that IH made. Just sitting there not eve n running they look powerfull, sleek an ready to pull anything put behind them. I own two WD9's what a great tractor, but the sure are heavy with fuild and weights on ready to work.

I take it the nomenclature has to have a D in it for the tractor to be a diesel rather than gas (WD6 or WD9). Did the W4s also come in diesels? How about the McCormacks (O4, O6 etc)???
