Hi

I have found an 806 with front wheel assist and was wondering how many and how long they made these. I am not sure of the year or condition of the tractor I heard about it second hand, the asking price is 7500. I already own a 1965 806 and think it is a great tractor. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jamie

Jamie, almost all 1206's I have seen in eastern Wa. have American Coleman fwa front ends. These were used on through the 56 series, were and still are very popular out west. Many are dualled up all the way around, mainly for stability on the hills out here. I have an 806 with the AC front end. Just went through it this winter, needing oil seals, a bearing cup, some bushings in the pivot and steering and of course the rubber flex boots. (They don't seem to last long.) I had $350 into that including a couple of hours of machinist's time. What you hear about the big turning radius is true, as is the power hop. If you pay attention to tire pressure you can get away from some of the bounce. I wouldn't call the AC fwa a good loader option. The book says not to run any front end weights with this unit, however this tractor had a heavy blade on it for years before I bought it. No, it's not a row crop tractor with this unit. Email me if you need more info.

I have more info on the tractor that I found. It has 4600 hrs on it, it is a bare back with 2 remotes, tires are 90% the guy trying to sell it thinks it has an Elway front end, tin is good. Asking 7500 obo. What does something like this bring in your area? This is one of the few I know of here in southwest MN. I have a friend looking at buying it for the front end so he can put it on his 1066 hydro. Do you have any salvage yards there that would have a good front end for sale? Any more info you could give would be a great help. Thanks Jamie

I have a 1066 with a Coleman front wheel assist, really makes a good workhorse even better. Only drawback is the turning radius. On real hard pulling implements in the red clay I also have a wheel hopping problem with the front assist. Has been trouble free except for a grease seal in the front axle, seems to be very well built. hope this helps. Pat in Wisc.

Jamie,

Since it was an option, I don't believe there is any way to know how many there were, however, even though it was available for most of the 806 pruduction run, not very many were sold so it would probably rate as a rare option. I can't advise on value.
