I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on repairing some leaks in the seals of a rear end around the axles and PTO of a M? Any of you guys ever done this before? If so could you tell me where I can find parts that I would need to fix this problem and/or give me some helpfull tips that might make this a little easier.. Thanks for the help guys!

Ditto with what Haas says a little tip I learned is after the axle is safely blocked use a engine hoist to pull the wheel-works slick
have fun

I replaced an outer axle seal on my MD. You have to remove the hub from the axle to do it. The hub and wheel are very heavy, so you have to have help or lifting equipment. Once the hub is off, it's an easy job. However, be sure to check the bearing for play. I've had limited success with mine. If was OK for a couple of years, but now it is leaking again.

I can't help you with the axle leaks, but I just replaced the pto seal on my M. I first parked it front end facing down hill. That way you don't need to drain any fluid out. Just remove the four bolts and the housing holding the seal with come right off. I then used a large round dowel to remove the seal from the housing and took it to my IH dealer and he had one the next day. The local bearing and seal place didn't carry or could get them.

One hint about putting it back in. Drive the seal in almost to where the old one was, so that it doesn't hit the same place as the old one on the pto shaft. The shaft usually has a groove cut in it from rubbing on the seal.
