Loss of Power while under load- Super A

While using my Super A last night I noticed that it lost power while under load. I was grading my manure pile and it would bog down when it came to any amount of manure. What would cause this? It's getting gas, has new plugs and wires, coil and points, condenser, etc. It was the first time I had it out all year and I have big plans for her this summer.

If you have removed the distributer, make sure it is timed right. Also, the points are set at 0.013 for a mag, or 0.020 for a distributer. I believe the plug setting is 0.023 -- new plugs can have the wrong gap. You may have restricted fuel flow, make sure the fuel line is not partially plugged and that the filter in the carb inlet is clean. Otherwise clean your carb and put a kit in it, make sure the float is set correctly. Other problems are the wrong valve clearance, or bad rings, etc -- but engine problems are not likely if it ran ok the last time you used it.

It has a distribter and the new points were set at "02", same with the new plugs. I put in a new sediment bowl last week. I set the float for the carb(Carter) so that the float is level with the base of the carb. It was up on a 30 degree angle so I adjusted it. Did I adjust correctly?Gas tank was cleaned and lines clear. New needle and seat- though it seems to stick at times. Engine runs fine now except under load.

The float is adjusted with the throttle body upside down (needle is closed) I don't have the spec for a Carter carb, but it should be about horizontal to the throttle body. If you adjusted it horizontal right side up, you are getting way to much fuel.

It could be that your governor isn't working as it should. Perhaps the spring is getting weak.
