Finally got my Super A running and I decided to plow up a small garden( two furrow plough). I may have gotten 18" and she bogged down and quit. I tried several times but she kept on quitting, so I put her away. My friend, who has been farming for 30 years and has five tractors, told me that I may have a small piece of dirt in the the seat under the needle. He told me that when my tractor came under load the small piece of dort would restict the extra gas from being drawn and the tractor will bogg out and stall. I told him that I install new wires and plugs, neeedle and seat, points and condenser, coil and a new sediment bowl assy. He asked me when did I install the new sediment assy- before or after the gas tank was cleaned out. I told him the new sediment assy was the last thing I installed( after a year of tinkering). He said that was proberly the cause of my trouble and to take off the carb and dis-assemble and re-clean and re-install. It makes sense but does anyone have any more suggestions? All I want is to be able to use my Super A without having it die on me.

You have been having trouble for some time with this. Did the tractor sit for some time before you bought it? You are probably getting flakey rust from tank. Clean every thing from carb to tank. When you put it all back together make sure screen in bowl is good and add a quite large inline filter between bowl and carb. The screen in bowl will catch large particles, and you can dump that making your inlne filter last longer. It will clear up after awhile. Or you can spend some bucks having that tank cleaned and sealed.

The inline fuel filter. Is this a special type because as you know I have a gravity fed line and regular inline filters are for fuel lines that have pumps on them. What would be the ballpark cost for a filter? Thanks for the info. And yes the tractor sat out doors for five years and I did manage to lots of crud out of the tank and old semiment bowl assy. So Mr. MacKay- would this be the problem for the loss of power and stalling of the under load?

PGNS: You are getting fine grains of rust coming through the screen in sediment bowl, thus plugging your carb over and over every time you clean it. Add an inline filter as Pawnee says that you can see through and tell what is going on. After you use the tractor for 6 months or a year the slosh of gas in the tank will have this all washed down and that will end your problem. I went through this with one tractor. When you get the inline filter get one the size of a soup can, so it will have lots of capacity. Take it from an old Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia boy. I see the NS what part.

Cost 2-5 $ at Walmart. They have a clear one. That could help you identify the problem, i.e. if the blockage is before that. They signify on the package whether they are gravity or pressure. Had one on my SM for years.Other people have mentioned the screen in the Carb, float height adj, or leaking float. Good luck!
