I have a few question about a F-20. I can pick one up for about $400. I am told it is complete and the motor still turns over but the tires are flat. I don't know much about them so what should I look for as far as good and bad points? Thank Shaggy.

around here mice get in an stick the clutch. most parts are easy to get though and they make a nice show tractor, lots of variations. I presently have 3 and an f-30. try to air up the tires before you move it if there is a chance they can be saved. dose it have the original manifold? these are getting hard to find. also little things like the genuine IH mag, belt pulley, how much wear does the drawbar pull pivots show? how about the pto shaft? does it still have the brake steering cables?

I am curious about the mouse in the bell housing syndrome. I have a F-20 that I will start tearing into soon and sadly it suffers from a stuck clutch. I was assuming old oil that that had somehow petrified the clutch to the plate but I would be interested to hear whatever you know about any alternatives and how they can be fixed.

One of mine was stuck and mice did the deed. They get in the timing hole in the bell housing and nest in the clutch. Mice pissrusts the metal components, and sticks the clutch disk to the clutch plate and the flywheel. It is not real hard to fix. Remove the driveshaft cover, the drive shaft, and the bolts for the bell housing. The housing may come off hard if the shaft is rusted to the clutch disk. Take it all apart, and you may find the clutch disk needs replacing. Clean the rust from the flywheel and pressure plate, and put it back together. PUT A RUBBER STOPPER IN THE HOLE so the mice dont return.

i've found that the cap off a quart oil bottle is just the right size to plug the hole.
