Found a 606 (I think) in a pond couple months ago that had been there for about a year. They have pulled it out now, shows watermark about 1 1/2 inches up the brake housing, may have been deeper, but probably not much. Has a brush hog on it that has been held up the whole time. 6 cyl deisel, Ford loader, 5 speed with TA and D. Looks like a good project for Tractor Kid and I if the price is good. So what is a good price? Haven't turned it over, haven't drained all the fluids. Didn't know where to find the serial number. One front wheel is messed up (toed in bad) after they pulled it out of the pond.

(besides leaving it in the pond for a year) was why was he in there with a brush hog. He drove it in on purpose, it wasn't all that deep. Hogging the pond weed? Someone said he was going to make it deeper... his wife was a little mad I hear.

bjorn: I can understand someone getting tractor in pond, but leaving it for a year. I heard a good one few years back. This was on a corperate type farm with a fleet of Farmalls. A guy that worked for the company decided one weekend to make a bit of money on the side. Hitched a 686 to a rototiller and started doing gardens for people. He had a few problems as well as weakness. People started paying with rum and coke. Late on Sunday pm at one of the most posh estates in village, our friend put new 686 and tiller in the inground pool, taking the wall with him as he went.

Price? They should probably pay you to haul it away. I'd worry about how much water got inside the engine and rear end. Hydraulics could be a big problem. Good news is that parts shouldn't be too hard to find, but they will be expensive. That's why you shouldn't pay any more than scrap iron price. It will be a very neat project though. You'll be a 606 expert by the time you're done, which is what we need on this forum, not too many guys have even seen a 606. Serial number is on a tag on the side of the clutch housing, I want to say it's on the right side.

I'm not sure about Internationals but I put a Ford 3000 with a loader on it in our pond a few years ago. The tractor was totally submerged. We had it pulled out with a backhoe, drained and replaced all the fluids and it fired right back up and gave us any trouble. Not a recomended way to wash a tractor though.....
