In most cases, you can stop or slow down "vapor-lock" by insulating the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carburetor. Rubber fuel lines will also work, but NOT recommended on a tractor. You might try to re-route the fuel line to get it away from the heat sources.

Vapor lock occurs when heat vaporizes fuel in a portion of the fuel system (fuel lines, fuel pump, carburetor) slowing or stopping the flow of fuel into the intake manifold. This can happen when a heat shield is missing, engine overheats or possibly, an exhaust manifold cracks and blows hot gases on a part of the fuel system. Vapor lock will go away when the fuel system cools down.

Vapor lock is when gasoline vaporizes (boils) in the fuel line ahead of the carburetor and interrupts the flow of fuel to the carb.

It's caused by high ambient temperatures combined with high vapor pressure fuel (i.e. "winter" gas used in hot weather). A fuel tank placed below the engine and requiring a pump to suck the fuel from the tank can also develop vapor lock due to the low pressure on the suction side of the pump causing the gas to boil in the line ahead of the pump. And as Dan mentions below a plugged tank vent can cause vapor lock when the pressure in the tank drops low enough for the gas to boil.

its when your fuel tank is not vented properly and the fuel will not flow out of the tank becouse the is no air to go back into the tank if you had a very thin walled tank or plastic tank and had good vacum it would calapse the tank
