My 560D Farmall spun a rod bearing. When I removed the pan to check it I discovered the engine had been previously "doctored" as the journal in question was already turned down .030 This is a 282 engine. Will a crank and rod from a 263 gas engine work? Thanks, Don

Cranks are not the same, correct for diesel has a lot more heft than a gas. They had breakage problems in early diesels, IH came with Elotherm treatment and other changes to fix this.

Someone else may correct me if I'm wrong but I am doing the same thing right now and yes the crank and rod are the same at least that is what the parts book at my favorite "used parts" dealer shows however I only needed a rod and found 1 from a diesel and my crank was able to be turned.

Don If I was told right the first 560's 263 - 282 had same crank then the 263 was made little heaver and the 282 heaver yet. but sey they should interchange because the bearings are same part number. The rods should in length but I think the 282 had bigger ristpin than the 263 that would be the big difference.
