I now have a 1946 H Farmall That was last cranked 7 years ago. My nephew tried to pull it off to start it 2 years ago and it would turn over but not crank. Plugs were old and dirty and Distributor was full of ants....
It has been parked under a tree with the exhaust covered for the last two years. I was told that I could "soak" the engine with diesel fuel to "loosen" it up. Is this a good idea? If so, How much and where do I put it?

Squirt some oil into each spark plug hole and turn it over a few times to coat the cylinders, then check the compression. If that's good clean out the distributor and carb and change the oil and check the coolant, should have a pretty good chance of running (assuming it was it running when it was parked).

If it will turn over now, it doesn`t need soaked, if it will not turn over now, take the spark plugs out, and fill the plug holes with PB Blaster, let it soak for a day or two, then put it in fifth gear and try to rock it by hand. In case you do not know where fifth gear is, it is all of the way to the right, and back towards the seat. I just brought home an H that hasn`t been run for twelve years, it wasn`t stuck, had it running in less than a day.

Hey Earl, do you still do paint jobs for $29.99?
