Have any of you guys had any luck removing the two brass bearings in the center tube in the frontend? I had to bring them to work and bore them out. These bushings have helical grease grooves in them for grease on the pivot pin. What I found very interesting was that when I bored the bushing out to the steel tube, you could still see brass in the steel tube were the grease grove was. Almost like IH screwed or suaged these bushings into place. Have never seen that before. Also pivot pin was badly worn and slightly bent.

Scotty: Never been there, never done that. Now I am going to learn something from you. Oh, I've had the pin out and front end off, just never ran across bad bushing or a bent pin. I supose the bad bushing gave enough play to bend the pin. Rough usage usually results in breaking front of engine block casting, rather than bending pin. A lot of people have also broke castings by towing.

While I'm responding, I think if I were you I would find a rental store with the proper puller for that front pulley. I have never had to remove one, however I have heard enough bad stories on that one, that I wouldn't try it with out the very best equipment. I doubt that those pullies are getting anymore plentiful.

Hi Hugh, My buddy at work is going to let me borrow a good puller. Im at his mercy right now! Yeah that pivot pin was bent, and the brass bushings were badly worn. At least .020 of play which I would think is way too much. By the way I liked that photo of the disk harrow, what size will the Super A pull? Good to hear from you.

Scotty: Sounds like you have things under control. Just be carful on that pulley.

That little disk surprised me, it's a 16 blade with 15" blades. It came with the 140 and I thought it looked so light it wouldn't be much good. I am finding it to be and effective disk. It needs some new bearings, and has the old steel greasable bearings. Front disk blades need replacing also. It's probably going to spoil $400. Can. to get it in order. I have only used the disk on 140 and I believe 140 could handle a 20 blade disk. It would be a load however.
