Hey guys, I have been noticing a small amount of water leaking out of one of the grease fittings on the water pump on the left side of the engine, and some water comming out from the front of the fan. This doesn't seem like a bad leak because I check the fluid level every time before I crank the tractor and it's always pretty close to full. I've even let it sit for 3 or 4 days and then checked it and it's still pretty much full. can any of you tell me what's wrong?? Do I need a new water pump?? If I do can I get one anywhere else besides CaseIH or Napa?? All opinions would be appreciated and thanks again!

Can any of you tell me where the packing nut is located?? If shaft packing is required, how do I go about doing this? Thanks again!!

I have never repaired one while on the tractor, I remove the whole fan assembly, disassemble the water pump and replace anything I think it needs. But the nut is on the end of the water pump shaft. You may (not sure) have to remove something called the "water pump driver" that has two studs on either side with two springs. Someone bail me out. CRS is setting in.

Yep,the driver has to come off first.Remove the locking bolt, pull off the drive and the two springs. The NUT doesnt look like a regualar nut.Just tighten it up and try that first, but its been my experienc that unless its just recently been rebuilt, you need new packing.

Part Number is 50790D. Get 3 or 4 of them, as you may need more than one. About $2.50 each. Try tightnning the packing nut first, that may stop your leak.
