Need your advice here guys. A couple of topics I need some help on.I rebuilt my Zenith carb this weekend for my Farmall 100. This carb had just been rebuilt by a Case dealer six months ago, and was leaking fuel like a buckshot bucket. Tractor had no power, and idle was really rough. What a cobble job that dealer did: I found the float 1/2" too high with carb inverted (yes, you read that right) and the idle screw 6-1/2 turns out!!!! Other than that, everything looked fine! Anyway, the machine started right up after I installed the rebuild kit and a new float, and ran pretty good at idle and intermediate speeds. But, it seems that I can't get the RPM's up to the point I used to be able to before the first carb rebuild, and I now have a high speed miss and a touch less power than I remember this machine having before the "tune-up." Machine has new plugs, wires, and points/condenser, but those were installed by the same dealer who "rebuilt" (read that: screwed up) my carb last time. What do you guys suggest? Redo the points/condenser, or is it time for me to dig into governor adjustments. Or, should I just use it a while and see if this machine (which really isn't run frequently enough) sorts itself out on its own with more use (wishful thinking, but has worked for me before!) By the way, this same dealer installed a new alternator (12V conversion was done by my father 15 years ago, and was working fine) and now the rig won't charge. Single wire alternator. Any advice on remedying that "repair?" Any advice on any of these topics is greatly appreciated. I want to get this heirloom machine running swell so I can use it! Thanks John P.S. I'll save the comments on "If you want it done right, do it yourself" until after I get this rig running right. But until then, suffice it to say I'm not a happy camper with the cobble job I paid bug bucks for at this particular Case dealer! Won't be buying anything from him again. He's not touching this tractor!
