Replace cutout with a regulator and wired accordingly.(Used your diagrams of course)Only difference was I had no "L" terminal on the regulator I bought,so I wired it as if the OLD feild wire was the wire that would have been on the "L" terminal, but put that wire on the "BAT" terminal. Is that ok?! now results of the change over.Pull out hte switch, amp gauge drops to -6,start it up at half throttle gauge goes up to around 5 amps and at full throttle dead on 10 amps! Now at midlow to low idle I get a negative reading,-5 to-8,BUT the longer it ran the closer back to 0 it would get. After about an hour of running a low idle,it was at +1 or +2.I fiqured the battery had gotten low from al the starting I have been doing,so i let it sit for about 2 hrs and started it back up with the same -5 to -8 results and again the longer it runs the closer back to 0 it gets. What does that sound like? (I did polarize)

49 - If I understand your post right, your wiring is a bit off! With a regulator without an "L" terminal the L wire should go to the regulator BAT terminal (you'll have 2 wires on the BAT terminal now). And the generator F wire will go to the regulator FLD terminal.

If you're wired right, you should get this with all other electrical loads turned off:

Ign switch on/engine stopped: -2 to -4 amps
Engine idling: -2 to -4 amps
Engine running at speed: +5 to +20 amps (depends on the state of the battery)

Give this a try and post back what you get!

Thats it exactly! What i did was I had the extra wire that was in the harness that went from the old cutout to the light switch from the feild on the generator.I removed it from the feild on gen and put it on the BAT terminal on regulator, then removed it from the resistor on the light switch and used it for the power to the light switch and ignition switch just to keep from running anymore wires and to clean up the box!Im getting excatly what you say im suppose to get!Now what to do with three good cutouts!HMMMMM MMmmmmm mmm! Thanks Bob!

Put your cutouts on Ebay. I just sold one there and I had more than one bid. Didn't get much, but better than nothing. I did the same thing you did, replaced the cutout with a regulator.
