I could use some help from the Farmall experts!

I bought a M farmall about three montns ago. I changed the oil recently and the oil was milky. After a couple of days I check the oil again and there is antifreeze in the oil at the drain plug. Tractor does not seem to smoke. Any suggetions on where to start looking? Is there a frost plug that could have started to leak?

thanks for your input!

Dave

The oil pan on the old M comes off real easy. Pull it off and lay a piece of pasteboard under it. Leave it for awhile, then come back and you will easily see what area is the culprit without laying under the tractor yourself. You can then slide under it and watch for the telltae drops. The last old M I fooled with that had this problem had water seeping around the dry sleeves. Since these ARE dry, the only answer would be that someone in the past had been rough getting the sleeves out and had cracked the block. We debated going further and ended up simply putting stop leak in. That's been about fifteen years ago and it's still doingokay.

My first guess would be the head gasket. Could be the head bolts just need to be retorqued.

could be a number of things causing your problem, a leaking headgasket, cracked head or cracked engine block, or liners leaking at the o-rings. The first step would be to remove the head, and then go from there.

dry sleeves on a M. No o-rings, I think. One of the other things Jon mentioned is most likely your problem.
