What's the deal with cub throw-out bearing?

I ordered a new throw-out bearing thinking mine, which came off a cub that had been setting for two years, was seized up. The new one doesn't spin either, but they both have grease fittings which seem rather useless if there aren't any moving parts. I don't get it. Anyone else know what the deal is? Thanks.

I'll check tonight and get back to you. Remember that there is nothing wrong with the t/o bearing you have. The one in the tractor lasted some 50 or so years. The newer style t/o bearing will not load the engine like the old style does when the clutch is depressed.

What you have is a block of graphite or carbon. The lube is absorbed into it. You are coorect in that the t/o bearing does not move, rather the clutch fingers spin against the bearing. Your bearing is from IH. A new, conventional ball bearing unit can now be purchased from other sources and is superior to the one you have.

I am not so sure a mechanical throw out bearing is superior to the graphite one that comes on a cub. Did I hear you say the old one lasted 50 years, and you replaced it because it was working the way it was designed to?
