Rebuild of belt pulley surface

How does one rebuild the belt pulley surface on a Farmall? Are the shims still available or can you make them out of some available material? They look like paper and seem to be held in place by some crossbolts or nails. I have not seen any kits for this type of restoration in my parts searches on the net for other items. Does anyone know of someone who does this as a service?? I know it's a replacement issue rather than a "bondo filler issue" since it's a rotating piece.

Guys: thanks for the source. I did see the rebuild on their site for $ 140. Pricey but at least there is somewhere where you can get it done. Great to link to everyone's experience and sources. Thanks again--

The pulleys are made of laminated paper. The nails on the ends are just to hold on the thin metal rings that protect the edges. The nails do not go all the way through, and are only about 2 inches long. As the others said, you can get your pulley rebuilt by the outfit in Columbia, TN, but it is not cheap.

I have had a couple of pulleys rebuilt by the outfit in Tennessee mentioned by Bob.. They do a very nice job. I clearcoated the sides after painting the inside casting... Turned out great.

Check out www.paperpulleys.com.

Do a Google search for "paper pulleys".

I second that. What a great resource. A little on the $$ side, but you won't find 'em anywhere else and they're professionally done.

If these pulleys bolt on w/4 bolts and a flange, I have one in good cond. and would sell for less than 140.
