I was looking at an add for a International 574 diesel tractor for sale. Before I get too excited and go and look at it, I was wondering if anyone knew the approximate width of this tractor. I did a few searches on Google and Yahoo but was unable to come up with anything except for an approximate weight of 4,700 lbs. My problem is that the my father-in-law has a trailer that I plan to use if I buy the tractor and it is 6 foot wide (75 inches to be exact) between the sideboards. Will this tractor fit on the trailer? Also, what is a fair price for the tractor if it is in good shape? The add doesn't mention the shape, but I am only willing to buy it if it is in good shape. The guy is asking $3,500.

The width from the outside of the rear tire to the outside of the other rear tire can vary from tractor to tractor, depending on what size tires it has, which way the owner has the wheels dished, and if they have the rim positioned in or out on the wheel. With a Utility tractor, you can get four different tread widths just by dishing the wheels in or out and moving the rim in or out on the wheel. 6 feet is too close to call. You'll need to measure. 574 has a heck of a good engine, if it is in good shape, you can hardly go wrong at $3500. You're probably not getting a loader at that price, though. Most 574's sell for a little more than that, but they have those nice IH 2250 loaders.
