Reading your posts and the answers, your model or year of tractor is not correct, look at left side of this forum about half way down it will have serial numbers for your tractor, the actual serial begins after the U (for US built), the park is prone to fail, and always need adjustment, sounds like you have a IH replacement non adjustable style, I would get a spring-loaded type from AG-Parts 800-445-6698, their part # 830244, should be about $30, I dont know if they will sell retail to anybody.

If the tractor does not have a gear click or skip when driven in reverse, you MAY be lucky enough that the park lock needs either adjusting or the park lock pawl is broke.

Adjusting is easy, replacing the pawl takes a lil time.

Are you sure its a 1964 year model 1066??? I have never heard of one of those..... ...

i can see no way to adjust the park lock.it only moves up to allow you to put it in gear,or down to lock it in neutral.and where is the pawl?

The 66 series tractors didn't come out until the early '70s. Sure it isn't a '74 1066?

go to your nearest case ih dealer, its an update kit for IH park locks, they can order one if they dont have one, you will have to pull up the deck and open the range transmition but rather simple really. Also dont trust parking it in gear to hold the tractor if its got a t/a

Your park lever should be a park lock. Sounds like you may have something broke, in a Case its usually the park pawl from someone trying to put it in park while its still moving.

i can't see anything broke where you can see it.it's been like this since i've had it.but i hate to cut the motor off in the winter to open a gate, then cut it off to close the gate.where is the pawl located?all the park lever does when you move it down is slide up to lock it in neutral.nothing else moves.thanks
