What should a DT 436 run for oil pressure? The one in our 1460 combine runs about 20 psi hot at full throttle. Only has 2700 hours on it and it burns 3 quarts of oil in a 14 hour day too.

Thanks for any help/ideas.

Steve, I have a 1460 also with 5200hrs on motor. Oil presssure on guage in cab is on the low side also. Oil consumation does not show up till we get 50 plus hrs. on change and then it will easily take two quarts in a 10 hr. day. Neighbor was loosing oil pressure in his and the problem was the injector pump was putting fuel into the crankase. He was over 7000 hrs. on his motor. Good motor, look at Johnson Harvesting web site history they had up to 7500 hrs. on the machines not sure on the motor. Good luck

Spec for the 436 is 15-30 at idle 45-65 at high idle. Easiest check is regulating valve, behind the large plug on the right side of the crankcase. As far as the oil consumption 3 quarts in 14 hours is not out of line. According to Mother Harvester 2.5 quarts per 10 hours is acceptable, especially under heavy load. Seems like some combines use more oil and tend to run lower pressure with less hours. my theory- is its from dry starts coming out of storage.??? If it still has plenty of power, oil's cheaper than iron.Good luck raising the pressure!

That dosen't sound too good. The closest thing to a 436 that I'm around is a 966 with a 414, with 5300 hours. It runs about 70-75 psi hot at full throttle, mabey gets down to about 55-60 at low idle. I would reccomend that you check the pressure with a different gauge, a test guage that you install into one of the plugs on the outside of the block's main oil galley. Eliminate the chance of a bad gauge in the combine's dash first, then start thinking about engine work.

I hooked up to my $50 AutoMeter gauge and that's what I got, also tried another mechanical gauge I have. Guarantee it's 20 psi.
