Anybody know when IH stopped making belt pullies available on their tractors? I think I've seen them on a 560 so I'm thinking it was on later models.

My brother bought a new one for his 495D about 5 years ago, then found out that it required the 1000 RPM shaft. After installing the 1000 RPM shaft found out it turned in wroung direction for his 3 pt hitch mounted circular saw and could not cross the belt. He solved the problem by having an adapter mount made for a B414D pulley on the 540 PTO shaft.

They were still an option on the 7 and 806 but as mentioned they were pto mounts. I have been watching at a lot of sales but have never seen one. I have seen one or two for the european series tractors which are also pto mounts.

The 560-460 series was about the end. Could still
get a 140 with belt pulley and maybe you could put one on a 656, not sure on this.

Jim: The 460-560 would have been the last of the side mount belt pulley. I know of a guy who had a pto mount pulley for his 656. I suspect that unit would fit a number of different Farmalls. soon as they moved the operator platform ahead that was the end of the side mount pulley. Belt drive equipment was almost gone by then anyway.

I think the side mounted belt pulley was still an option on the British built B.450 tractor.

Roy: That is correct, you British guys got us on that one as that B-450 was around long after the 460-560. The end of the side mount belt pulley came when the operator platform was moved foreward to better accomodate rear hitching, and raisng of that hitch. Would be only one way to have a modern day 3 point hitch and a side mount belt pulley. That would be a remote operator. Remember those adds that showed the farmer sitting in a nice big comfortable chair under a big shade tree, controlling the tractor by remote.

Then there was the farmer out on the prairie with a W6 and plow plowing in circle with rope tied to steering wheel and wraping around post in centre of field. Would take some engineering to figure that one out.
