Your tractor will develop engine wear, dpending on the load, it will last longer running around all day pulling nothing than it will pulling your disk. That said, it won't hurt anything if it is running the rated rpm. In the absence of a tach, if it builds up to speed rapidly, you aren't hurting anything. If it builds up very slowly, straining all the way, the valves will go first, then the rings, then---.

My Dad, pulled a set of 6' IH C?? disks from 1945 till 1949 with his A. In 1949 he upgraded to C and then in 1952 to SC. Our farm has hills and medium soil.

So your A should do the job.

Pete: I wouldn't worry about the A unless it is over heating. Those little tractors will loose traction before you will hurt them. The C, SC, 200, etc are a different story, same power train as the offsets, but just a whole lot more tire.

Your A should pull a 5ft disk. You should be able to work this tractor pretty hard if it's in good shape and has good fluids. Have you checked/changed your transmission fluid lately? What about the final drive fluid? Both are fairly easy and inexpensive to change and would make a big difference in wear in hard use. Dave.

An A in decent shape should pull a 5 foot disc. If it doesn't overheat keep on discing. If it overheats back off on angle, gear down , 1st is a little slow for good discing.

Your tractor will have a shortened life doing it that way, use a lower gear, or get a smaller disc.

Yeah, watch your heat gauge and oil pressure guage. If it starts to get hot oil pressure drops considerably you are probably working it too hard.
