Hello...If you can help please do! I have an IH 1066 tractor, non T/A equipped...While I was bush-hogging the other day the hydraulics stopped working. No power steering, no brakes, no PTO..Nothing. One of my friends thinks that it could be the hydraulic pump has failed..IF this is the case, where is it located, how hard is it to get at it and how do I test it? If it is the pump where do I get another one? IF not the pump, then what else coud it be? As you can see I don't know much about tractors but am willing to learn!

Thanking you in advance! Mitch.

Depends on what you find wrong. You'll have to decide what to replace or reuse. That depends on how you use tractor vs what you think its worth, &do you want it tip-top, or get by.Not sure but$275-325 for just whats wrong to $500-600 with everything. Inspect flywheel, that is more yet.Lots of places to get parts reasonable, shop around online. Last time I went to dealer I thought wasn't bad. Post what you find for us,I'll try to watch forum more than now & then.batescorp. or abilenemachine. will give agood idea of parts & $$.

If its high hour/heavy pto use most likely the clutch hub/input shaft. That runs agear &shaft that runs hyd &pto. Probably cant see it to well from clutch insp hole. Take top link mtg off, look in at shaft running front to back. It should turn in relation to engine speed. If thats it split tractor.FYI; IT manual (&IH) pictures are not quite right,& there is 2 different shafts (pitch)at least on 966. expect some gear whine w/ new gear on old.Real bad whine/scream wrong gear. Been there, done that, start over.

If the pto failed, you have worn the splines off of the PTO input driveshaft and or pressure plate. You need to split the tractor at the clutch housing and replace the clutch, PPA, PTO input shaft, seals and o-ring to fix this.

This is not a hydrualic problem, instead, the shaft splines that DRIVE the hydraulics and pto is just worn out.
