Well, I got the 5 btm- and traded it off already
for a 4x16 Oliver 565. The 550 IH just needed too much work. I traded it (and $200) to Junkey Fry for the oliver. I brought it home and sunk it in the ground for a few passes and the 656 tugs it just fine, don't even make her bark! The oliver has original paint that looks to have been shed kept, good bottoms (2 of the moldboards will need replaced sometime)and brand new coulters. Now all I have to do is get used to plowing with a semi mount:) I think we're going to plow one field this fall that we want to re-seed and just let it sit till spring to kill off the sod.

Sounds good! Oliver made a very good plow which rates right up their with IH IMO. I look for the 550 next time I go down to Juniors and see what the mark up is ;-P You will pick up plowing with a semi mount..... .I still like my trailer plow better but for headlands, odd shaped fields, and dead furrows..... .You can't bet a semi-mount!

Glad to hear you solve the great plow problem!(You must have acouple things Oliver now? Didn't you get that Oliver 12ft disk?)

Yea, I got the disk too.. I was told to buy "Oliver Tillage" so thats what I got!! I think I'll get the hang of plowing with it, I'm a quick learner;) Are you going to Fraley's on the 20th?? I'm going for a while but I don't have any money to buy anything. Tractor money is running thin right now. I have to save a few bucks anyway as we are going to dig the NI 323 out to see what it needs to pick this fall. I bought it last year and have not used it yet. I just brought it home and stuck it in the shed. It was one of those "it worked when I parked it deals" so who knows what it may need. We were going to finish our hay this weekend but I fear the rain will put a stop to that.

I should be at Fraley's if I don't have to work..... ..... I have to talk to my buddy since we may start hauling some of our hay and cattle equipment down to sell(Landlords are being less than kind about us renting for some reason)..... Are planning on just planting Corn and soybeans from now on so we don't have to deal with them on a daily basis..... .

Maybe I can find another cheap 706D down there ;-P

Hey, I'd like to hear how that Oliver works in sod..... ..... .We used to run Case plows and they didn't cover well, neighbors Oliver 3-16's did a good job. Does it have coverboards and coulters? Or did Junior rip them off for something else?
