My "new" trailer plow looks like a little genius or little wonder on rubber tires.
It is a single bottom "14 and the only marking on it is the IH symbol followed by the number PO23440A. I would like to know what modle it is and try to get a manual for it. Could maybe post a picture if that would help. Thanks. Dave.

Dave: After viewing what gene had to say on this plow, I went back to my info in 150 Years Of IH. I gave you some wrong info yesterday without looking it up. I don't know that what I gave you changes much. The plow that was discontinued in 1942 was a Little Wonder No. 2. The Little Wonder No 3 was only introduced in 1940 and continued until 1955. He describes the No.3 as a single bottom plow built specificly for the Farmall A and B tractors, and it sold new for $75. plus $5. for a tail wheel. 15,000 of these were built.

There were also Little Wonder 1 and 4 model numbers. The number 1 was built from 1921 to 1925 and from the way he describes it an operator must have raised it with the levers as he says no 2 was much improved with clutch lift. 2x14 only. The No. 4 also a 2 bottom was only called a No.4 Wonder plow. The no. 4 built from 1940 to 1948.

If you look at 150 Years of IH you would wonder why IH used the designation Little Wonder and Little Genius as none of them had the same model numbers, and they were indeed all tractor plows. The other area I have noticed some discrepancies, is implements build by IH for Canadian market at the Hamilton Ontario works. Over the years I have noticed a few cases where US and Canadian copies of the same machine may have slightly different model designation. I think that manual cover picture I e mailed you is one case. It covers Canadian production at Hamilton. It calls the plow, obviously the same plow as a No.8 Little Genius, just a No.8 tractor plow. I also shows a single bottom No.8. Wendel in his book makes no mention of a single bottom No.8 Little Genius, nor does he mention the names Little Wonder and Little Genius being dropped during the 1940s. I cant think of specifics right now but over the years I've noticed other differences between Canadian and US buyers guide. I just wonder if anyone out there can enlighten us on this.
