I'm new to this message board but not new to Red Power. I don't know anything about this "new Farmall" thing. Is Case-IH going to bring back the Farmall name? Is New-Holland proposing to buy out Case-IH, drop Case, and return the Farmall name? I apologize for appearing ignorant.... I'm anxious to see a reply. Thanks!

A BLUE FARMALL? UGH! Sounds like one of Henry's better ideas like a 351 cleveland and a 351 windsor in the same vehicles in the same year(with diverent bellhousing bolt patterns too).
Maybe GM will buy the whole mess and straighten it out!

I would be surprised to see Teneco replace the name Farmall seeing as IH had dropped it 10 years before the crash. There was an interesting article in a Canadian farm magazine that gave the opinion that it will take 5 or more years but NH will pick and choose the lines to drop. He says they will drop dealers in 2 dealer towns much like Tenaco did. His guess is that they will choose the NH combines over the IH's- now that a chilling thought.

I thought the merger took place several months ago!

Our local New Holland dealer did not know about
the buyout of Case-IH when I mentioned it !
In later conversation, the dealer told me
that so far it is, "business as usual". Seems
to be all he knows. I was wondering, can
they order IH parts in the future, or will
the Case-IH stores stay separate ?

I would guess the two would remain separate - similar to what happens when big automakers buy little automakers. There is a certain marketing value in the name.... I doubt that NH dealers would be able to get parts, unless they were out in the boondocks. Even though Ford owns Volvo cars, the Ford dealer down the street doesn't stock Volvo parts. I dunno. Personally, I'd like to see Case-IH spun off as its own company and renamed International Harvester Corporation. But then, all of this is idle speculation!

Wouldn't it be nice to see IH spun off as a small size tractor manf.? I think that making small tractors and implements would be just the thing for the namesake that way you might be able to take advantage of some brand recognition that you wouldn't see among the large factory farms.

And if the new IH built a product like the old IH did, you'd see an instant (and loyal) purchaser base! Talk about easy marketing.

Each dealer can only order the parts for the brands they currently handle. NH dealers can't start ordering IH parts and vice versa.

I think some of what has been said about the matter is simple joking.I myself dont think the Farmall name will come back nor do I hope it does.I dont think should be associated with the newer tractors. Its a classic name and should stay that way.Not like those dang Deeres!!

Well, I have mixed feelings about the name coming back, if it ever does. I don't put it past some marketing department to do it.... look what the automakers are doing with their "retro" stuff - besmirching classic nameplates by putting them on cookie-cutter front-wheel-drives. Time will tell, I guess.
