Question is this. The 2 140's I run see moderate use. Change oil twice a year in both. Use the 30wt which is called for. Usually use either Castrol or Havoline which is 1.64qt and 1.17 a qt. Has anyone tried this super-tech oil from wal-mart which is .84 cent a qt. Is it any good? Would it work as well? Think quaker state or penzoil makes it. Interested in what others may think about this product. Thanks

Did I mention the super-tech meets the same spec API- SL as the Castrol or Havoline- What do some others run?

I still wouldn't - just because it meets the current specs doesn't mean it's as good of a product as the others on the shelf.

Having said that, if price keeps you from changing oil as often as you should, buy the cheap stuff. You are way better off changing frequently with the incorrect oil or sub-standard oil (not saying Walmarts is sub-standard), than you are with changing with the best oil but infrequently.

BTW - Penzoil & Quaker State are owned by Shell. Havoline is owned by Chevron/Texaco. Unsure about Castol.

But just because Penzoil and Quaker State are owned by Shell, doesn't mean that all three of them are the same oils or of the same quality or lack of.

Personally, for the little bit it costs for oil, I wouldn't touch it. Just because Quaker State or Penzoil makes it, doesn't mean it's any good.

33 cents per quart savings. 5 quarts per change. 2 tractors. Twice a year. Savings: $6.60. Not me, I've spent $6.60 way more foolishly than buying oil.
