I'm wanting to put a hydraulic clutch pedal assist on my IH 856 Diesel and have located one on the internet that is off of a 1066. My question is, will the clutch pedal off the 1066 fit on my 856? I've heard the pedals are different with the assist, so the pedals have to be changed. Can I do this? Will it fit? HELP!!!

Thanks!
Gordon

I worked for an IH dealer , for 3 yrs. ,now I have a tractor repair shop of my own , the clutch that you want to interchange ,the hyd. asst. bolts onto the mc valve, you dont have to change your 856 pedal, just use your linkage and assist off your 10. If you have an questions, call me at (570) 673-5688.

Thanks, Brett! I'll be calling you Monday evening for more particulars. If I don't have to buy the pedal it will save money.

Have a nice weekend!

Gordon,
I'm swapping one onto my 1066 now. On the 1066, the clutch pedals are different. I can't say for sure about the 856. The assist assembly I'm using came off of a 1466. The pedal I'm using came off of a 1066.
So far that's about all I know. I'm going to have my cylinder rebuilt before I make the swap.
I'll let you know how it turns out.
Mitch

Mitch, are you saying the 1466 pedal won't fit on your 10? If so maybe a 10 pedal is built enough different so it won't fit an 856. I know that the pedals are different because the assisted pedal has to have some kind of attching point for the cylindar to hook up to, but I don't know if they were geometrically different otherwise to prevent fitting.

I'm going to go ahead and buy it anyway. If I need to do some fabricating or boneyard diving to make it work, it won't be the first time.

No sir, that's not what I ment. I haven't tried a 1466 pedal.

I bought the cylinder, bracket, and links off a 1466, but didn't know there was a difference in the pedals 'til I tried to mount it all up. I have another 1066 parts tractor that came with the hyd. assist, originally, and I robbed the pedal off of it.

the clutch pedals are different you should use the 1066 clutch pedal for the hyd clutch to get the proper adjustment but heres the problem i am thinking that the 856 tractor has a nut on the back side of it and the 66 series had the casting i know for sure threaded. you have to take the top lid off your 856 to hold the nut .

The best way to find tis out is to go to CIH and compare part numbers.
