Here is what I found out about tire sizes. The old sizing was across the tread width (10 inches). The new tire sizing is at the widest part of the tire (11.2 inches). The tires are the same and the rim width is the same, just a new way to confuse the buyer and hope to make more money,I guess.

As Dave indicated, the most common size is now labled 11.2-36, the old 10-36. The size of the tires has not changed, only the width designation, not the width itself -- same now as it was 60 years ago. If it had 9-36 tires on it, these are now labled 9.5-36. If it had 11-36 on it these are now 12.4-36. Don't think you would want to go any bigger for everyday use.

The C's and Super C's all had 36" tires on them. The sizes have changed over the years in width only. Your tractor would have probably had 9 x 36 or 10 x 36 tires from the factory and they probably have been changed over the years to 11.2 x 36. This means that they have gone from 9" wide to 11.2" wide.

Hope this helps

10x36 was the old original number, not 10x38. The new designation would be 11.2x36

As a postscript, the tires on my SuperC are original, they are 10x36, and are like new with only a small amount of checking... it just sat in the barn for 48 years and did nothing... original front tires too... All four are Generals.
