Just need some help re: a loader from an 1953 H. I am told it will fit my 1951 M...is that true? If so, please give a rookie the run down on what I need to do to get the rust stripped off it, have it painted, assembled and installed on my M. How much will all that set me back? I am open to any input. The set-up includes two side brackets, the bucket and big deal it is attached to, and two cylinders that I believe house the hydrolic fluid. Is there anything missing?
I am going to have to find someone local who can guide me but any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Ben

The loader is a Freeman. Looks like it was made in Peru, Indiana.

The loader on my M is a Freeman/Bush Hog model 2000, made in Peru during the mid 1970s. It fits my H also, but needs spacers between the frame rails and the loader frame because the H is narrower. It is a VERY rugged loader. Years ago, I had an IH 300 Utility with a Freeman loader that was built with a pipe frame. It was not as rugged as the one I have now, but it was a good one.

Ben, you said it comes with two side brackets. Are you referring to the brackets that bolt to the rear axle housings? If so, sounds like all the parts are there.

I had one on my H but took it off this spring. They are nice to have but without live hydraulics and power steering they can be a hinderance too.

If you have any questions about mounting holes I can email you some pics.

Getting it stripped, re-habbed, and painted is anybody's guess as to cost. Installing it will go alot better if you know, or have someone who DOES know, if it's all there. Most implements will fit either an H or an M, as the frame length is about the same. The tractors DO vary in width at the front, however, with the H being about 3" narrower. Some loader mounts will fit either, some use spacers to fill up space at the front when mounted on an H.
