I have taken the head off of my Farmall A to have the valves ground. In re-attaching it to the block, what torque values should I use? Also, is there a pattern I should follow in bolting it down? Thanks....Gerald

IH changed the torque values to 80 ft lbs some years ago. They did not update the manuals, far as I know. See tune up info in www.weberstractorworks.com.

I use gaskets from CAR QUEST paint them with hi-temp ALUM. Start in center work each way then redo after a good warm-up and have no problems Very important to have threads clean.

Book says 65 ft. lbs. on head bolts.

Sequence is like this: 7 3 1 5 9 * * * * * * * * * * 10 6 2 4 8

Forgot to mention, do not take them to 65lbs all at once. Go through the sequence with your torque wrench set at 45 lbs. Then repeat at 55lbs. and finally at 65lbs.
