Does anyone know where I can get a drawbar for a Super A? Got one from a guy today, but it was modified and does not fit my tractor at all. It had the original brackets replaced with new ones that looked good, but are drilled wrong for the mounting bolts. Didn't figure it out till I got home (about a forty minute drive, too).

thanks,
Darren

Had similar problem with drawbar for a (gasp) green tractor. My solution was to borrow the correct part from a friend and to use it as pattern to make what I needed. If not making your own new one, maybe the real thing will show how to modify what you have to something workable.

They are hard to find. If it doesent have to be correct a little work and one off a B will work and be lots stronger like HUGH said a little welding and your in. Knew i should have bought the one at flea market just needed sand blasting.

Darren: Is the U of the drawbar the right width for your tractor? You sound as though you may not be able to return that drawbar, or it just may not be worth the drive. It the U is the right one and right width I would check with a fabricator on making a set of mounting brackets. He may even be able to change holes on the brackets you have.

My next thought of course is if that bracket will not fit your tractor it will not fit any other A, SA, 100, 130 or 140. So then you have to wonder if the drawbar was indeed an IH drawbar, unless for a Cub. Cub could be same drawbar with different brackets, not sure on that one.

Those drawbars for Super A could be a bit scarce. I have been told of tobacco growers buying Super A tractors new without a drawbar of any kind, just a bracket similar to drawbar mount, only designed for mounting rear cultivator gangs. If that practice was done in any volume, drawbars could be hard to find.

Hugh,
I've heard the same thing about Super A's-- that they were (and are) a favorite among tobacco growers and that they were used principally for cultivating. This drawbar is kind of the right width-- someone welded homemade brackets to it and they are about 1/4" too wide at top, just right at bottom. It doesn't hook over the bolts at two points on each side like original SA drawbars, but rather is set up to be bolted to the the tractor at three points on each side through drilled holes. It looks like an IH drawbar, though I cannot find any markings and cannot match it to any other by photos. The fellow who sold it to me was nice enough and seemed an honest guy, so I'll try to return it to him. You're right about the rarity of these things-- trying to find one has been exasperating.

Thanks again,
Darren
