okay, i am going to drain out the hy-tran and clean the screen on my super A. Here is a dumb question, where is the screen? Will i have to remove the front (toward the motor) plate to get to it or take the whole thing out? i need to check the valves to see if possibly one is stuck. any help appreciated. i have a copy of the breakdown hyraulic schematic from the case dealer that was faxed to me. looks quite busy. thanks

Pat: Wrong advise on the thread to Darren. I was actually giving the advise to someone else in a personal e mail. So here goes. If your hydraulic levers are not synchronized with the rockshaft you can get a laboring of tractor. Some times that frame work around hydraulic levers can get bumped causing this. To check this out have tractor at low idle and one lever at a time move them very slowly foreward and to rear making sure rockshaft reaches end of travel at same time as lever. If rockshaft reaches end of travel before lever pushing lever further will cause system to by pass. At low idle you will hear the tractor start to labor as rockshaft is at end of travel and lever wants to move it further. If both levers are out in same direction it can be corrected by moving frame around levers. Other senarios will have to be corrected by adjusting lever.

It is precicely the same as tugging on older power steering when at limit, or holding lever activating a remote cylinder when it reaches end of stroke.

Pat: Take a peek at advice I gave Darren in the thread just above. Not just sure of your problem but if your hydraulic levers are not in sink with rockshaft, it can cause problems.

Pat, The strainer screen is on the carb side of the unit, four screws. I dont know if you have the same problem that I have, the o rings on the pump under the mag are shot allowing hyd fluid back into the crankcase. You might check that also. You can get the complete rebuild kit from Case IH.

On my '50 C it is located on the left side of the hydraulic unit right below the fill hole. There are four bolts that hold it in. On the C I had to move the steering shaft out of the way.
