To James and Others: You guys are much too kind. There are a good number of guys on here that are far more knowledgable than I, about tractors and the maintainance and repair of them. Guys who had a career of wrenching, or in parts dept. These guys saw a lot wider range of tractors than I. I tend to take, like Paul, a light hearted approach to this old iron, and in case you guys haven't noticed that regularly gets me in trouble about once a month with someone. This month it was Steven, last month it was my comment about the 656 tractor being an M with comfort. Back beyond that I don't remember, would have to check the archives. When this does happen I am a pretty thick skinned old guy. It runs off like water off a duck. When I was actively farming, my average working day ran from 5am to around 9pm. I was truly a workaholic. My good wife and family feared as I got older I would never learn to relax and have a hobby. The hobby did come and it is probably you guys and YT. I spend about 30 to 40 hours per week on YT and personal e mails from people who we have never seen on discussion forums. My hobby is not my three old tractors, other than a fix up every spring I hardly give them the time of day. I have but one piece of advice for forum participants, don't be afraid of those long posts. If a certain Farmall has X item plus a few other minor items, it takes words to describe it and details are important. One of the most painful items on here is watching someone trying to give advice without enough information.
