I have a H and an M and each one of the have a wedge between the bottom and top part of the spindle. I have been told that this was to kick the tires out a little bit so the tractor was smoother going down the road. Where these an option, any idea on how many were made? Just wondering because a gu wanted to bu the H just because of the wedge. Thanks, Adam

There was a bit of what's called "trail" designed into the front bolsters of H's & M's. The lower end of the frt bolster actually swept from side-to-side in an arc, it didn't just turn. The tapered spacer took that trail out of the front end so the tractor would steer easier. It was an aftermarket part. Never "Sold" by IHC, but possibly avail. at an IH dealer years ago. Dad got them from Tractor Supply for an H & M but never put them on.

That is a shimmy plate it sets the wheel forward to help stop shimmy in high gear.

Adam, I am assuming that you mean this wedge spacer goes between the upper and lower bolster? The IH parts book does not list any wedge. It must be an after market add on.

Are you talking about the front wheels? Please clarify what you mean by wedge. An H or M without worn parts is very smooth going down the road.

Yes the front wheels, it is about 3/4" thick at rear and narrows to about 3/8" at the front. I realize that they are very smooth running that's why I was wondering why they would put them in there.
