I've been looking for awhile for a deal on a trailer to haul my '48 "H". I've been trying to talk my self into it all weekend. Need some advise! I found a 20 ft. deck over with a 4 ft. beaver tail. 4 wheel brakes, looks like new(built in 1999),hitch pull not a gooseneck,tandem,12000 lb rating. He's asking $2500. New these go for over $4000. I've got a 2003 Chevy 2500HD with a 6.0L and 4/10 rear end. the truck will handle it. Am I going overboard,it's alot of trailer for my H. The flexibility of a deck over versus working around the fenders is a plus though. If I ever got another tractor I could also load both of course depends on weight of the second one. Any and all thoughts on this appreciated, Mike

You should always go bigger if you can. Tractor fever will hit hard. I had to buy another 48' goose neck just to keep up. If you have a shredder, you will have to consider it as well.
My two cents.

I am using an 18 foot bumper pull 10,000 lb With 700x15 tires, drive-over fenders and just love it for being handy. Makes it low and easy to load. If my pickup is full of junk (like it is most of the time) I can hook up and go. And I almost never have tire trouble like the guys that run radials. I think 2 flats on the road in 8 years and no blowouts at all. I am on my 2nd set of tires. Oh BTW, I paid $2200 for mine new in 1995.

I bought a 25 ft gooseneck with a 4 ft ramp like yours with the drive over fenders for $2500 earlier this year and love it. I had a couple bumper pulls prior to that which were ok.

Better jump on that deal. Make sure you get the title.

I would consider going gooseneck while your at it. You may not need it now but down the road after you've bought more(you will even if you don't think so now) you will be much happier. We had a bumper pull like you speak of for a while and it was okay but after you buy more and maybe heavier tractors you'll end up trading like us.

I don't know JW, but I agree wholeheartedly. A 3/4 ton truck will pull a gooseneck so much easier than a bumper pull.
My little bro bought a nice gooseneck for 2700 bucks.
Look in this guys driveway in a couple of months and let us know what is parked there... I'll bet it's a gooseneck.
good luck
