it is my opinion that the battery should be stored where it won't freeze. But if you put the charger on it once and a while that would be ok too. kepping the gas tank full might be a good idea but i don't and never have trouble. Make sure they have antifreeze or drain then but i assume you knew that.

Where at in NW Indiana? I'm here in Lowell.

I don't do much for winterizing since I use her for snowplowing. (Not too much of that last year.) Just make sure that there's no water in radiator, battery is charged, and the oil is a good viscosity--15W-40 Delvac is the ticket for me. If you let her warm up for a few minutes, your tractor will think it's summertime.

I live in Western Wisconsin were it gets cold in the winter. I now am up to 7 Farmalls so winter is a concern. With the tractors that I am not going to run all winter I add stabilizer, fill the tank with gas, add a can of Heet (helps to keep the rust from forming in the tank), and squirt oil in each cylinder. Then I put the battery charger on the batteries every couple months. In the spring they start like I just shut them off. Roger

I also start the "H" every couple of weeks and run it awhile to keep the battery charged.....

Stay away from the regular Heet. It has methanol in it and is corrosive. Use Iso-heet, it has isoprople alchol in it and is 100 times better.
Take 2 small bottles and mix a small amount of gas, Heet and water in one, and Iso heet in the other one. Shake them up and see the difference.

For me I fill the tank (ok I leave about a inch) and Stable and check the coolant making sure I am safe to about -40°F. I come back in the spring and she runs like a champ.
