What is a Farmall 856 less than 700 hours on a total rebuild, one owner, good 18.4 38 tires, full set of front weights, 2 sets of rear weights, good straight tin, runs and looks great!! Original paint is bright and good. No dints or dings.
It's in Maryland..... what's it worth??

The best place is to check the Classified Ads link on this page. It makes a lot of difference as to what part of the country the buyer and seller happen to be in. As they say: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". The main thing to consider is whether you are happy with the purchase/selling price. What one person is willing to pay may not be close to what somebody else is willing to pay. Generally this board has been directed away from buy/sell type questions, although it seems like more and more people are trying to use it for that purpose.

Some guys on this board ask what their tractor is worth and then get mad when they are told a lower price then they expected. But there is usually a question like this about every page.

A lot depends on where you are. My brother bought a 856 pretty much as you described except it had a new TA and clutch (instead of the overhaul) and needed all new tires for $3,400 at auction. You guessed it the clutch and TA went out after just a few hours of running. It was never installed correctly (precious owner attempt), ended up spending another couple grand before he was done. By the time he had the tires and repairs completed he had just under $7,000 in it. One thing that adds a lot of value is having a 3 point and not a fasthitch. Make sure the overhaul is REAL, the owner should have no problems showing you the bills connected with it so you can verify the warranty and work.

a friend of mine just purchaseda second ownered 856 diesel. eveything worked orignal paint orginal muffler tires front and rear 95% dual speed pto this tractor has ta dual remotes dual wheels this tractor isa fast hitch tractor and has 4100 hrs he paid $7450.00 hope this helps

My brother and I bought an 856 with a turbo on it last spring. 3500 hrs on motor, strait tin with a little fading, new 18.4x38 long bar radials, factory 3 pt. heavy wide front end, 2 inside and 2 outside weights on each rear wheel. Gave $5200 for it.

Just the ticket for pulling big round baler up and down the hills here in southern Ia. Nice tractors with plenty of power for the size.
