Just curious Rice Field Special on steel

Most of you know from my past posts that I think the best looking IHC tractors ever were the WR-9 "Rice Field Specials" on the big rubber or steel wheels. I am just curious if anybody has one on the 34" steel front and 54" steel rear wheels?

I,m with you on the 9 series tractors Harold, simply the best. But, 34" front wheels.What a sight. Nothing like that in Australia. Regards, Redfan.

Most of the WR tractors were sold on rubber,(except during the war), but the ones on steel in the Delta and Louisiana usually had wheel extensions which made the 34" x 6" front wheels 34" x about 9" (I'm not sure of the width of the front rear extensions) and the rear wheels 54" x 18". This gave a third row of the big 6" spade lugs. They were also equipped with scrapers. They were really something to see with these big spade lug wheels, 54" wheel + 6" lugs gave 66" overall wheel height or diameter on solid surface. (The rear steel on the regular W-9 was only 56" overall diameter, 48" wheel + 4" lugs gave 56" overall diameter). The front wheels had I believe a 3" or 4" guide ring which made them 40" or 42" overall diameter. I hope somebody has saved one with these tractors with big steel wheels somewhere.

Harold H. Just picked a WR9 up in west Tx. It is on rubber with dealer or farmer installed LPG. You might try Sell Farm Supply @ 1-800-400-6369, he has maybe a 1/2 doz. W9s in his yard the 1st week of Sept. Steal wheels that big would be a sight. Morgan
