I am intrigued by the 4166, would it make a good row crop tractor? Can the pto be switched from 1000 rpm to 540, or did it have two ptos like the two-wheel drive tractors did? I need the 540 rpm speed for running my grinder/mixer and mowing alfalfa. Any info would be apreiciated.
how reliable were they (engines, drive train) Was the steering a weak link, could it row crop cultivate, or was it too clumsy?

thank you mike b.;

A 4166 sold at a Richie Bro construction auction yesterday for $1750. It only had the 1000 PTO. It ran and drove great. It had 3100 hrs. I was tempted, but it wouldn't work to well to bale hay.

Sorry about the wrong info the other nite as i did not read the post correctly . As i have only worked on one of them i can not say for sure . If ya want a tractor that is 4 wheel drive and want to row crop then i would think that a 3588 or 3788 would be the way to go and you can change the pto over if it has not already been done. And yes i know they are ugly but don't judge them buy that they don't do to bad and if ya can work on them ya can get them reasonable.
