Is it possible to replace rings and crank bearings on a 574 gas while the block is on the tractor ? I have a 2050 loader that should not interfer but will be hard to take off and replace by myself.

we had a 574 that the motor was stuck on and we successfully got the pistons out without taking the engine out of the tractor. the oil pan is part of the frame support for the front bolster on which the radiator mounts. we had to support the front wheels and bolster assembly with a chain falls to allow it to flex and take the bolts out that are part of the cast oil pan assembly. once the oil pan is off it will be easy to get the pistons out. i think all the main bearings are accessible except for possibly the ones nearest the flywheel. can't remember if that had a plate over it or not. piston sleeves did not seem to have any ridges in them. i don't think it will be too difficult other than getting around the loader while it is still on the tractor. good luck!

Yes it can be done but you will find that the sleves also need replaced and that can be done while still in chassi . New ring on old sleves is like putting a bandaid on where a stich is needed. And replacing bearings in chassi is not hard , even the mains can be changed ya just have to roll them in .

There are no sleeves in the 574 gas. What is the chance of ridges being built up ?

Guess i have been away to long from fixen them and getting cenial Your wright sorry , then if that is the case then if it was me i would pull it and bore because if it needs rings then there is more ware then you want and probable and out of round cond. Now if someone does have a portable boring bar then it can be done in chassi but they are a bear to clean and get all the chips out of. And yes there will be a ridge.
