I put some contaminated fuel in the tank of my IH 584. It stopped running like it was out of fuel, I opened the bleeders at the fuel filters and had water gushing out. I bled the lines until fuel began coming out of the bleeders, put new fuel filters on, rebled the lines and she would not try to start. I drained both sides of the saddle tank empty, emptied the filters, put fresh fuel in, rebled the lines and it still will not start. I am missing something here, Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

Do you have fuel at the pump?
Did you bleed all the injectors ? If you have fuel to the pump and can't get it to the injectors then it is likley that the water may have gone past the filters and got to the pump and it could have twisted the shaft.

Jeff, on my 584 the fuel shut down knob can actually be used to give more fuel for start up especially in cold weather. Pull the shut off out slowly and about half way you can feel it stick slightly this will give extra fuel and perhaps help you get going. You may have to bleed right at the connections to the injectors if this won't start it. Get some diesel fuel conditioner and fuel line anti freeze in the tank, this will help get rid of the moisture. A machinery dealer friend of mine says to put a liter of automatic transmission fluid in the tank, this also helps remove moisture and it lubes the pump...I'm away this weekend but check with me if you don't get going and I'll get back to you....Mike in Exeter Ontario
