How much work is it to "refurbish" the front bolster on a narrow fron farmall m. As far as number of bearings.. cost.. time.. etc..
My front end really wobbles down the road can't go more than half throttle, walks really bad.. so that I understand can be the two gears in the upper bolster.. do they make those new?

Check your nuts first. My Super M had a terrible wobble. Noticed the steering shaft going in and out 3/4". I got the bushing, bearing, and seal for the worm gear, took the big nut off the front and found the nut inside that holds it all together didn't have a key in it and was loose. After tightening and putting a nail in as a key the shaft doesn't move and the wheels have almost no wobble.

The bushing, bearing and seal where about $20 I think.

My experience has always been the lower bushing is bad or the worm thrust bearing is bad. Just haven't had a bad gear I guess.

The worm bearing is cheap.

The lower bushing kit is about $100 and a bear to change but well worth the trouble. I have done several.

Also, if the gear box won't hold grease, gun grease stays in and works well.

could be loose nut on top of gear could be loose nut on wearm gear the M's came out with a halt gear if it has the later full gear you may be able to turn it to a better spot. and it could be bearing bushing and all of the above.
