H front wheel mounting - in or out?

Just painted my chassis over the weekend and now the acrylic urethane is hard enough to withstand some bolt tightening and contact without scuffing or chipping.

I noticed a number of H's with the front tires with the rim mounts on the inside of the wheel casting, and others with the rim mounts on the outside of the wheel casting. What is the "proper" mounting method? I didn't take a picture of how mine was mounted before I took them off.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Here are some scans from my 300 operators manual. The 300 front end is the same as a H. It shows the different settings and warns of using something heavy on the from like a loader at the widest setting.

It is your choice, but in most areas in is the normal position. The only time out was used was in muddy conditions. With them in you have more crop clearance in rowcrops and it steers easier.

Its your choice, BUT we run them wide in the winter for better performance in the snow.

Dave is right, mount as you please. My personal opinion is, they look better bolted on the inside. However the front end would be slightly more stable and less likely to sink in soft ground or ball up in mud if they were bolted on as wide as you can get them. But a couple of down sides to having them wide is, it will be slightly harder to steer and possibly more apt to wobble at faster speeds if you have some parts wore out in the steering. Just my 2 cents.
