I just bought an industrial Model International tractor that has the model No. I-240 with the serial number 2230153B100210/X. Can anyone tell me more about this tractor and let me know where I can get a manual for it. It is a 3 cyl. diesel witha front end loader. Yellow paint.

The narrow front in the picture is the Farmall 240. The wide front is the IH 240

Hello Cass, --- 17 / Oct. / 2003 ---

Your "I 240" SERIAL NUMBER "2230153B100210 X" was
made at the IH plant in Doncaster, England. The engine would be one of two; "DD-99" or "DD-111" (both are 3 Cylinders and Diesel) made at the IH plant in Neuss on the Rhine, Germany. Look on the block of the engine and see what number is on it (DD-99 or DD-111).

The SERIAL NUMBERs, you would have to go to an British WEB SITE to get the year of your tractor.

I'm going to do some more paper work and see if I can come up with something more.

Regards, Milton "farmall28@yahoo.com"

I have not yet looked on the engine for the code Milton mentioned. I will do that. This tractor is yellow. It appears that the farm models are red. This tractor has the loader more or less permanently attached and it has decals on the side of the loader that say "240 Series A Payloader" . From this I suspect that is the origin of the "I-240PL" designation. What is the link to the "British" site? Thanks for the help to date. What manuals apply to this tractor? Thanks again.

As you know, your 240 is more of an industrial model. You might be able to get a manual and a few parts, like filters, from your nearest Case-IH farm equipment dealer, but be careful, IH built a farm/Utility tractor in the late '50's, also called the International 240. What you have is often confused with the old 240 Utility. I think I have seen the machine you have referred to as the 240A.

I think that should be farm AND utility tractors.
Actually, they are both farm tractors, with the Farmall 240 having a narrow front, and the International 240 having a wide front. I have no knowledge of the industrial model.

The International 240 industrial Tractor/Loader is totally different than the Farmall 240/International 240 Utility. That's why I say be carful.
