As I understand, the difference in the two is the hydro. Can hydro be added to the A to give it all the features of the Super A?

chiege: Not factory Super A hydraulics, the engine block and torque tube are both different.

Ok, thanks.

I am looking to buy a smaller tractor to mow (2 acres or so) and tend to various jobs on my 7.5 acres.

A new sub-compact like the Kubota BX2200 would be ideal, but don't want to put the money in it.

I have restored and worked on old cars and enjoy this, so I figured an older tractor would be a great fit for me.

Any thoughts?

Chiege: Most any 20 hp tractor that is new enough to have hydraulics. The Super A is a great choice, or even newer the 100, 130 or 140. All great little tractors, easy to work on, fixing them doesn't break your back account. They are basically all the same tractor with a few inprovments as you progress from SA through to 140. Most significant of these are larger engine, more hp, better brakes, bit better hydraulics, more comfortable seat, larger tires. Some of them already have 50 years in and no reason why they wont do another 50.

The A does not have the opening by the distributor for the factory style pump. You would have to install some form of pto driven hydraulic pump and reservoir.
