57 Cub Throttle Stuck

I recently purchased a 57 Farmall Cub that had not run for several years. After tinkering with it last Saturday I finally got it to run (it sounds good too), but the throttle is stuck in the wide-open position. The linkage is free. The problem appears to be in the governor (at least I think it’s the governor) on the front of the engine. The rocker arm (and spring) that the linkage attaches to won’t budge. This is my first Cub (I have a Farmall H that I worked on a lot) and I probably won’t get the manuals for a little while yet. Are these units tricky or can I remove, disassemble and clean the governor fairly easily? Is there anything I should watch out for or replace while I’m in there? Thanks in advance for all your help.

The throttle linkage is on the back of the carb next to the block. The arm is connected to the throttle shaft by a set screw that may be loose, which is making the tractor run wide open. Give this a look.

GOOD LUCK

The bell crank on the gov. housing mite be seized up. Be careful trying un seize it, taping on it may cause it to make funny noise (ping) the sound of cast breaking, been there done that. Jim
